Jeep Wrangler Battery Specifications
The Jeep Wrangler uses either a standard 12-volt AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) battery for non-eTorque models or a dual-battery setup combining a 12-volt AGM with an auxiliary battery for eTorque mild-hybrid systems. Wrangler 4xe adds a 17.3 kWh lithium-ion high-voltage battery that powers the electric drive system. Our certified Mopar service technicians handle all three battery configurations — including the high-voltage system on 4xe, which requires factory training to service safely.

Battery Care Tips for Your Jeep Wrangler
- Western NC winters drop battery cranking capacity — have your battery load-tested every fall before cold weather arrives.
- Vehicles with auto start-stop or eTorque require AGM batteries — never substitute a standard flooded lead-acid battery.
- Wrangler 4xe owners: the 12V battery still needs occasional charging if the vehicle sits for extended periods, even when the high-voltage pack is charged.
- Battery terminal corrosion is common in off-road Wranglers — inspect and clean terminals seasonally.
- Expected lifespan for the standard 12V Mopar AGM battery is 4-6 years in this climate — keep records and replace proactively rather than reactively.

Every battery service at Mahon CDJR starts with a free Mopar battery test that measures voltage, cold cranking amps, and internal resistance. If replacement is needed we use the OEM-spec Mopar battery matched to your Jeep Wrangler — including AGM batteries for vehicles with auto start-stop or eTorque. We also test your alternator and starter while we're at it.
