Jeep Compass Scheduled Maintenance Overview

The Jeep Compass is the compact SUV in the Jeep lineup, with Trail Rated capability on the Trailhawk in a right-sized package. Every 2025 Compass uses the same 2.0L turbocharged inline-four with engine stop-start (200 hp / 221 lb-ft), 8F30 8-speed automatic and standard Jeep Active Drive 4x4, so one service plan covers Sport, Latitude, Limited and Trailhawk. Our Mopar-certified team services every Compass with OEM-spec parts.

The Compass uses the Stellantis Oil Change Indicator System, which brings the interval in sooner under hard use: forest-road driving on the Trailhawk, dusty conditions and repeated short trips all count. Whatever the indicator says, the 2025 owner's manual specifies never exceeding 10,000 miles, 12 months or 350 engine hours between oil changes.

Time-Based Service

Several 2025 Compass items are governed by time as well as miles, whichever comes first:

  • Engine oil and filter: at least every 12 months even at low mileage
  • Brake linings, front suspension, tie rod ends and boot seals: inspect every 20,000 miles or 2 years
  • Engine air filter (Mopar 68469692AA): replace every 30,000 miles or 3 years
  • Door hinge roller pivot joints: lubricate twice a year with white lithium grease
  • PCV valve: inspect and replace if necessary at 140,000 miles or 14 years
  • Engine coolant (Mopar OAT MS.90032): flush and replace at 10 years or 150,000 miles, and inspect the accessory drive belt, tensioner and idler pulley at the same visit
  • Brake fluid (DOT 3), transmission, PTU and rear drive module fluids: the manual sets no replacement interval; levels and leaks are checked at every service

Engine-Specific Maintenance Details

Every 2025 Compass uses the same 2.0L turbo (GME-T4) with engine stop-start, so one spec covers the whole lineup: SAE 5W-30 full synthetic meeting Stellantis MS-13340 (API SP/GF-6A), 5 quarts with the Mopar 4892339BE filter. The 8F30 8-speed automatic uses Mopar ZF 8 & 9 Speed ATF, and the power transfer unit and rear drive module use Mopar 75W-90 synthetic GL-5 gear lube; none of the three has a scheduled change in the plan. Four Mopar 68292346AA spark plugs go 60,000 miles on a mileage-only schedule, the engine air filter is Mopar 68469692AA and the cabin filter Mopar 68585743AA. The 9-quart cooling system takes Mopar 10 Year/150,000 Mile OAT coolant. Get the right oil for your engine.

Off-Road & Trail Maintenance

The Compass Trailhawk is the only Trail Rated Compass, with Jeep Active Drive Low (20:1 crawl ratio), a 1-inch lift, skid plates, red tow hooks and on/off-road tires. Off-road use in Pisgah, DuPont and other Western NC trails accelerates maintenance: the 2025 plan asks for the engine air filter to be inspected at every oil change in dusty or off-road driving and replaced as needed, inspects the CV joints, brake pads, rotors and hoses at every oil change, and checks the front suspension, tie rod ends and boot seals every 20,000 miles. The PTU and rear drive module carry no scheduled fluid change, so a leak and level check at every service is the safeguard after a season on the trails.

  • Wash undercarriage after off-road runs to remove mud, sand, and salt.
  • After deep water crossings, check engine oil for milky discoloration.
  • Inspect skid plates and underbody protection after technical trails.
  • Check axle vent tubes for damage or blockage after off-road use.
  • Trailhawk all-terrain tires wear faster on pavement than highway tires.
  • Tire sidewall inspection after every trail trip — cuts and embedded debris are common.
  • Brake pad inspection more often for off-road Compass owners — mud and grit accelerate wear.
  • Cold-start operation in winter stresses the 2.0L turbo — allow brief warm-up.

Severe & Special Operating Conditions

Stellantis defines severe operating conditions as any of the items below. The 2025 Compass owner's manual does not publish a separate severe-duty driveline schedule; instead the Oil Change Indicator shortens the oil interval under hard use, the engine air filter is inspected at every oil change in dusty or off-road conditions, and tires are rotated with every oil change. If your Compass sees these conditions, plan on more frequent inspections.

  • Off-road driving in dust, mud, sand, or water (common for Trailhawk)
  • Frequent short trips that prevent engine warm-up
  • Heavy stop-and-go traffic
  • Sustained mountain grade driving (Western NC routes)
  • Extreme cold weather (below 0°F) or extreme heat (above 100°F)
  • Operating in dusty conditions or gravel forest roads
  • Towing within Compass’s rated capacity (up to 2,000 lbs)
  • Extended idling

Service for Jeep Compass Owners Across Western NC

Compass owners across Western NC use this compact Jeep for a mix of duties: daily commutes around Brevard, scenic drives to Asheville (~40 minutes), shopping trips to Hendersonville (~30 minutes), and forest-road runs toward Waynesville and Pisgah Forest. Trailhawk owners stress driveline components and the air filter more than other trims, and mountain grades work the brakes the plan inspects at every oil change. Our Mopar-certified service team understands the trade-offs.

Monthly & Semi-Annual Owner Checks

Between scheduled service visits, a few quick owner checks help catch problems before they become repairs. These take only a couple of minutes and apply to every 2025 Jeep Compass.

  • Tire pressure — check monthly when cold.
  • Engine oil level — check every 2-3 fuel fill-ups.
  • Coolant level — verify monthly.
  • Brake fluid level — check the master cylinder reservoir monthly.
  • Washer fluid — top off as needed.
  • Visual underbody check — look for fluid leaks, damaged skid plates after trail use.
  • Battery terminals — inspect every 6 months for off-road Compass owners.
  • Tire sidewalls and tread — inspect monthly; off-road users more often.
Note on Pricing: Because every 2025 Compass shares the 2.0L turbo, routine service pricing is consistent from Sport to Trailhawk; Trailhawk off-road use may call for more frequent air filter and inspection visits. Call (828) 492-2121 for trim-specific quotes.
