2025 Dodge Durango Scheduled Maintenance Overview

The 2025 Dodge Durango offers three distinct engines: the 3.6L Pentastar V6 in the GT, the 5.7L HEMI V8 with Fuel Saver Technology in the R/T, and the supercharged 6.2L HEMI in the SRT Hellcat and its Silver Bullet, Hammerhead and Brass Monkey editions. The V6 and 5.7L share one maintenance plan; the Hellcat follows a stricter SRT plan with its own oil, spark plug and driveline intervals. Our Mopar-certified technicians handle every 2025 Durango with OEM-spec parts.

The Durango uses the Stellantis Oil Change Indicator System. Towing, aggressive driving and mountain grades all bring the indicator on sooner. For the V6 and 5.7L HEMI, Stellantis specifies never exceeding 10,000 miles, 12 months or 350 engine hours between oil changes. The SRT Hellcat is capped at 6,000 miles or 6 months, with an oil level check at every fuel stop. Neither Durango V8 is an eTorque mild hybrid; the 5.7L uses Fuel Saver Technology (MDS) instead.

Time-Based Service

Several 2025 Durango items are governed by time as well as miles, whichever comes first:

  • Engine oil and filter: at least every 12 months or 350 engine hours on the V6 and 5.7L HEMI; every 6 months on the SRT Hellcat
  • Front suspension, tie rod ends and brake linings: inspect every 20,000 miles or 2 years (V6, 5.7L); every 12,000 miles or 12 months on the SRT Hellcat
  • Engine air filter and transfer case fluid: every 30,000 miles or 3 years (V6, 5.7L AWD); every 30,000 miles or 30 months on the SRT Hellcat, which also changes front and rear axle fluid at that interval
  • Spark plugs and PCV valve: 100,000 miles or 10 years (V6, 5.7L)
  • Engine coolant: flush and replace Mopar OAT coolant at 10 years or 150,000 miles on every engine, the Hellcat's intercooler circuit included
  • Brake fluid: the manual lists no replacement interval for the standard Mopar DOT 3 fluid, which is inspected at every service; if DOT 4 fluid is used on the SRT Hellcat, change it every 24 months
  • Accessory drive belt: replace at 150,000 miles or 15 years (V6, 5.7L); inspect at 60,000 and 120,000 miles on the SRT Hellcat

Engine-Specific Maintenance Details

The 2025 Durango offers three powertrains spanning efficient V6 to track-ready supercharged V8, and each has distinct oil requirements. The 3.6L Pentastar and 5.7L HEMI both use SAE 0W-20 full synthetic (MS-6395), but the V6 holds 6.0 quarts with a cartridge filter (Mopar 68191349AC) while the HEMI holds 7.0 quarts with a spin-on filter (Mopar 4892339BE) and runs 16 spark plugs, two per cylinder. The supercharged 6.2L Hellcat requires SAE 0W-40 full synthetic (MS-12633), 8.3 quarts, and changes its 16 plugs at 60,000 miles instead of 100,000. All three use Mopar ZF 8 & 9 Speed ATF in their TorqueFlite 8-speed automatics, Mopar ATF+4 in the transfer case and Mopar GL-5 75W-85 synthetic axle lubricant. Get the right oil for your engine, and never substitute.

Towing, Performance & SRT Hellcat Considerations

The 2025 Durango R/T is rated to tow up to 7,200 pounds, or 8,700 pounds with the Tow N Go package, and the SRT Hellcat tows 8,700 pounds while making 710 horsepower. Both heavy towing and aggressive Hellcat driving stress the powertrain and shorten service intervals, and the 2025 plan reflects that. On the V6 and 5.7L, front and rear axle fluid is inspected at 30,000 miles and changed if the Durango is used for frequent trailer towing, off-road, police, taxi or fleet duty. The Hellcat changes its transfer case and both axle fluids every 30,000 miles regardless, changes oil every 6,000 miles or 6 months, and inspects its accessory drive belts at 60,000 and 120,000 miles. No automatic transmission fluid change interval appears in the 2025 plan; the fluid is checked for level and leaks at service. Tell our service advisor how you use your Durango and we will set the schedule accordingly.

  • Towing 7,000+ lbs is severe-duty operation — oil change at 5,000-7,500 miles, transmission fluid at 30,000-60,000 miles.
  • Hellcat owners driven hard: oil change at 5,000-7,500 miles; supercharged engines are unforgiving of degraded oil.
  • Brembo brake pads on Hellcat require OEM-spec replacements only.
  • Track days require brake fluid inspection and possible flush before each event.
  • 5.7L HEMI lifter wear is documented — conservative oil intervals (5,000-7,500 mi) help.
  • Three-row family use with full passenger loads counts as severe-duty.
  • AWD Durango: all four tires must have similar tread depth to protect the AWD system.
  • Hellcat supercharger has its own oil reservoir — inspect at every oil change.

Severe & Special Operating Conditions

Stellantis defines severe operating conditions as any of the items below: frequent trailer towing, off-road or dusty driving, and police, taxi or fleet use. Durango HEMI owners who tow regularly and Hellcat owners almost always fall into severe duty. For the 2025 V6 and 5.7L, severe use moves the front and rear axle fluid change to every 30,000 miles and calls for the engine air cleaner to be inspected at every oil change in dusty conditions. The SRT Hellcat's plan is already written for hard use, with 6,000-mile oil changes and 30,000-mile driveline fluid changes for every owner.

  • Towing — Durango HEMI rated up to 8,700 lbs
  • Aggressive Hellcat driving, track days, autocross
  • Frequent short trips that prevent engine warm-up
  • Heavy stop-and-go traffic
  • Three-row passenger loads on long road trips
  • Sustained mountain grade driving (Pisgah, Blue Ridge Parkway)
  • Operating in dusty conditions or on gravel forest roads
  • Extreme cold weather (below 0°F) or extreme heat (above 100°F)

Service for 2025 Dodge Durango Owners Across Western NC

Durango owners across Western NC have a unique mix of duties: family hauling around Brevard, towing campers and boats up to Lake Lure and beyond, daily commutes from Asheville and Hendersonville, mountain trips to Cherokee NC and the Smokies, plus the occasional spirited Hellcat run up the Blue Ridge Parkway. Each pattern stresses brakes, transmission and powertrain differently. Our Mopar-certified service team, including SRT-trained technicians, understands every 2025 Durango variant.

Monthly & Semi-Annual Owner Checks

Between scheduled service visits, a few quick owner checks help catch problems before they become repairs. These take only a couple of minutes and apply to every 2025 Dodge Durango.

  • Tire pressure — check monthly; before any tow trip; before any track-day for Hellcat owners.
  • Engine oil level — check every 2-3 fuel fill-ups; HEMI engines benefit from regular monitoring.
  • Coolant level — verify monthly.
  • Transmission fluid level (when accessible) — check periodically for towing-heavy use.
  • Brake fluid level — check monthly; before each track event for Hellcat.
  • Brake pad visual inspection through the wheel — Brembo on Hellcat wears visibly.
  • Trailer hitch and electrical connections (towers) — inspect at each tow trip.
  • Tire tread depth and sidewalls — inspect monthly; performance tires more often.
Note on Pricing: 2025 Durango service pricing varies significantly by engine. The V6 takes 6 quarts of 0W-20, the 5.7L HEMI 7 quarts, and the Hellcat 8.3 quarts of 0W-40 every 6,000 miles, so an SRT oil change costs more and comes around more often. Brembo brake service on the Hellcat costs substantially more than on a GT. Towing-heavy users should ask about the 30,000-mile axle and transfer case service.
