2026 Dodge Charger Scheduled Maintenance Overview

The 2026 Dodge Charger lineup is split between the gas-powered Charger Sixpack, with the 3.0L Hurricane twin-turbo inline-six in 420-horsepower Standard Output (R/T, R/T Plus) and 550-horsepower High Output (Scat Pack, Scat Pack Plus) form, and the all-electric Charger Daytona Scat Pack, the only Daytona for 2026 since the electric R/T was postponed. The two Sixpack engines take different oil grades, and the Daytona has no engine oil at all but still needs tire rotation, a cabin filter, brake fluid, coolant and Electric Drive Module service. Our Mopar-certified technicians handle every 2026 Charger with OEM-spec parts and fluids.

Sixpack models use the Stellantis Oil Change Indicator System. Aggressive driving, track days and spirited mountain runs around Pisgah and the Blue Ridge Parkway bring the indicator on sooner, and the owner's manual says to service the car within 500 miles of the message and never exceed 10,000 miles, 12 months or 350 engine hours between oil changes. Daytona owners follow a mileage-and-time schedule instead: tire rotation and inspection every 10,000 miles or 12 months, brake fluid every 24 months, and an Electric Drive Module drain-and-fill at 150,000 miles.

Time-Based Service

Several 2026 Charger items are governed by time as well as miles, whichever comes first:

  • Brake fluid: change Mopar DOT 3 fluid every 24 months on every 2026 Charger, Sixpack and Daytona alike; mileage does not apply
  • Engine oil and filter (Sixpack): at least every 12 months or 350 engine hours even at low mileage
  • Front suspension, tie rod ends and brake linings: inspect every 20,000 miles or 2 years (Sixpack); at 10,000 and 20,000 miles, then every 20,000 miles or the equivalent in years (Daytona)
  • Engine air filter (Sixpack): replace every 30,000 miles or 3 years
  • Coolant: flush and replace Mopar OAT coolant at 10 years or 150,000 miles on both powertrains
  • Accessory drive belt (Sixpack): replace at 150,000 miles or 15 years
  • Door hinge roller pivots (Sixpack plan): lubricate with white lithium grease twice a year

Powertrain-Specific Maintenance Details

The 2026 Charger offers three powertrains and two very different oil specs. The Sixpack Standard Output in the R/T and R/T Plus uses SAE 0W-20 full synthetic (MS-6395), while the Sixpack High Output in the Scat Pack and Scat Pack Plus requires SAE 0W-40 full synthetic (MS-A0921) and 91-octane fuel; both hold 7.5 quarts with the filter and share the Mopar 68683357AA cartridge filter and a 60,000-mile spark plug interval. The TorqueFlite 880RE eight-speed uses Mopar ATF 818, and the 2026 manual schedules no change interval for the transmission, transfer case or axle fluids. The Daytona Scat Pack has no engine oil; its two Electric Drive Modules take Mopar ATF+e (MS-A1465), 2.75 quarts each, drained and filled at 150,000 miles. Get the right oil for your engine, and never substitute.

Performance & Track-Use Maintenance

Charger Scat Pack, Scat Pack Plus and Daytona Scat Pack owners who autocross, track, or push their car hard around Pisgah's mountain roads should expect the schedule to tighten. On the Sixpack, the oil change indicator responds to how the engine is used and will call for service well before the 10,000-mile cap; the manual also says to rotate tires at the first sign of irregular wear, even before the indicator comes on. Brembo six-piston brakes, the 24-month brake fluid change and the 20,000-mile brake lining inspection all deserve extra attention after track use, and the High Output engine must run on 91-octane fuel. Every 2026 Sixpack Scat Pack includes a one-day session at Radford Racing School, so tell our service advisor if you plan to use it.

  • Track-day participants: inspect brake pads, brake fluid, and tire condition before AND after each event.
  • Brembo brake pads on Scat Pack require OEM-spec replacements only. Never substitute generic pads.
  • Performance tires wear faster than touring tires — expect 15,000-30,000 miles depending on driving style.
  • Aggressive driving accelerates oil breakdown. Change oil at 5,000-7,500 miles when driven hard.
  • Track-use brake fluid should be DOT 4 minimum; consider DOT 4 Plus or DOT 5.1 for high-temp brake systems.
  • Daytona EV owners: regenerative braking dramatically extends pad life (60,000+ miles typical), but friction brakes still need inspection.
  • Cold-start operation in Western NC winters stresses turbo bearings on Sixpack — allow brief warm-up before hard acceleration.
  • Performance Charger heavy electrical load (audio systems, accessories) shortens 12V battery life — annual testing recommended.

Severe & Special Operating Conditions

The 2026 Charger owner's manual does not publish a separate severe-service table, but it does adjust the plan for conditions: the Sixpack engine air cleaner is inspected at every oil change and replaced as needed if the car is driven in dusty conditions, tires are rotated at the first sign of irregular wear rather than on a fixed count, and the oil change indicator brings the interval down under hard driving. Performance driving makes that kind of adjustment the norm rather than the exception for many Chargers. No automatic transmission, transfer case or axle fluid change is scheduled at any mileage; those fluids are inspected at each oil change and changed only if leakage or contamination is found.

  • Autocross, track day, or aggressive spirited driving
  • Frequent short trips that prevent engine warm-up
  • Heavy stop-and-go traffic
  • Extended idling, especially with heavy accessory use
  • Sustained mountain grade driving (Western NC roads stress brakes especially)
  • Towing or heavy passenger loads
  • Cold weather operation (below 0°F) or extreme heat (above 100°F)
  • Daytona EV: frequent DC fast charging accelerates battery degradation — use Level 2 when possible

Service for 2026 Dodge Charger Owners Across Western NC

Charger owners across Western NC have a unique mix of driving environments: daily commuting around Brevard, spirited runs up the Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville, mountain switchbacks heading toward Hendersonville and Fletcher, and longer trips to Cherokee NC. Each affects maintenance differently. Mountain descents stress brakes (especially the Brembo systems on Scat Pack models). Cold winter starts and hard turbo use stress the Hurricane inline-six, which is why its oil grade and 7.5-quart fill matter. Our Mopar-certified performance technicians know how to service every 2026 Charger configuration, gas or electric, for Western NC driving.

Monthly & Semi-Annual Owner Checks

Between scheduled service visits, a few quick owner checks help catch problems before they become repairs. These take only a couple of minutes and apply to every 2026 Dodge Charger.

  • Tire pressure — check monthly when cold; performance tires lose pressure faster than touring tires.
  • Engine oil level (Sixpack) — check every fuel fill-up; turbo engines benefit from frequent oil-level checks.
  • Coolant level — verify between MIN and MAX monthly.
  • Brake fluid level — check monthly; track-day participants check before each event.
  • Washer fluid — top off regularly.
  • Brake pad visual inspection through the wheel — Brembo pads wear visibly faster than standard.
  • Tire tread depth and sidewalls — inspect monthly for performance tires.
  • EV charge port (Daytona) — inspect for damage or contamination monthly.
Note on Pricing: 2026 Charger service pricing varies by trim and powertrain. Both Sixpack engines take 7.5 quarts of full synthetic, and the Scat Pack's 0W-40 costs more than the R/T's 0W-20; Scat Pack Brembo work costs more than R/T. Daytona EV service has no oil change but includes brake fluid every 24 months and long-interval coolant and drive module service. Call (828) 492-2121 for trim-specific quotes.
